- The following story is a very common one in the district. It was told to Patsy Carberry by his father - a farm worker in Ballymakenny. The father is over 40.
"Once upon a time two boys went to rob an orchard. It was in the dead of night and when they the apples in a bag they started to divide them. There was a graveyard next to the orchard and they went in there to divide the apples. They were saying "one for you and one for me, one for you & one for me". A man who was passing got a great fright and ran home and said he heard two divils dividing the souls."- Bailitheoir
