  1. Numbers of people in the locality made songs of their own at different times. One of these songs are "The old Road Belle." It was made by Andrew Shevlin when he came home from America. there was a song made at a spree in Car'- na shanna and it was called "The Swarrie." It was made in a barn of Cooney's by Murphy's of Carterstown. Another song that was made was "Jem Berrills Ass Snowballs". A song was made in Sandpit and it was called "The Sandpit Dancing Class". A rhyme is
"From the King to the clown
There is a seat to sit down
In old Bankerstown in the parlour."
This was made by the people of Brownstown.
    Another one is
"I bought a pound of rashers and fried them on the pan.
But the devil a one would eat them only Katie and Ann.
