  1. Near Turtulla about one mile from Thurles, in the middle of a big field lies the ruin of a chapel where it is said the priests used say Mass in the Penal Days. Only the four walls remain there now. There is a path leading from Barry's house among trees and fields by which the priests used get to the Chapel called the "Mass Path." There is also a big tree with a cross over the top about ten yards from "Lady's Well" and it is said that Mass used be said there it is called the "Mass Tree." There is an underground passage from Holycross to Leugh from Barry's house at Turtulla to Cabra, from Rathmanagh to Holycross where the Priests used hide and escape from the Yeos.
