- CowsWe have names on the cows and were know them by their names. The cows named are "Hague". (?) Hague got her name because she is a grey cow. The "speckled" cow got her name because her colour is red and white. "Old Luckbeg" is so called because she was an old cow that was bought in Luckbeg. "Big Red" is so called because she had twin calves. "Black Cow" got her name because her colour is black. "Young Luckbeg" is so called because she was the calf of "old Luckbeg". "White Legs" is so called because her two hind legs are white. "Six Teats" got her name because she has six teats. "Corkey" got her name because she is a corkey colour. "Pippy" got her name because there are grey hairs on her.
When we go to the field to bring home the cows we call out, "How", "How", "How" and all the cows come to the gate. Then we follow them in and bail (?) them.Sarah Blake
