- At the present time no men's clothes are made locally, but the farmers' wives made some of their own clothes, and nearly all their children's clothes.The old people tell us that many years ago, at least three different tailors used make clothes in this district. One of these, whose name we have not been able to get lived in Steelspark, a quarter of a mile from the village of Clonakenny.A second tailor, whose name was Harry Hynes used travel from house to house; he used remain in each house until he had finished whatever work was to be done there.The following story is told about this tailor. He was at work in a certain house in the "bad times"; one night the people of the house where he was working stole a pig from their neighbours for food; next day, as this tailor sat on some straw on the floor, working away at a suit of clothes, the police were seen approaching the house and the woman of the house got into a terrible state when she saw(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
