  1. Once upon a time as the Holy Family were walking along the road Our Lady lost the pin of her cloak which she had wrapped round the Holy Infant.
St. Joseph asked a cowman in a field for a thorn which would do for a pin. The cowman said he was to busy to look for one although he had nothing to do only to mind his cows. When they were passing a forge the smith saw that our Lady needed a pin so he said he would make her one. He got a piece of money and he made the finest pin that ever was seen. Ever since the smith who washes in the water that cooled his irons finds himself refreshed and made stronger.
It is also told that the robin was trying to draw the nails out of Our Lord's hands and feet and in this way the robins breast (the robin) was stained with blood and ever since the robin has a red breast.
