  1. In this locality the people say the
    month of May and June are unlucky
    for people to marry. They say every
    month with the letter 'r' in it is
    lucky for marriage. Mondays and Fridays
    are days considered unlucky for
    marriage. Wednesday is the day which
    the people of this locality consider
    luckiest for marriage.
    Shrove Thuesday is the special
    day of the year set apart for
    marriages. Matchmaking is usually carried
    on in our district. Word is sent by the
    brides' parents to a suitable man.
    If the man is willing to marry
    her he shows them his farm
    and they agree on the dowry
    which they will give him with
    the girl.
    The customs that are observed
    on a wedding day are as
    follows. First the invited guests
    take lunch at the Bride's house
    and then they all go to the
    church where the marriage takes place.
