One day as Saint Patrick was crossing a field he cut his arm.

    (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)
Mass on in the Penal Days. One winter this man had no firing and he went out to cut the bush. When he had it half cut he heard some noise and when he looked round he saw his house on fire. He ran to get water but when he got to it the fire was out. So he said he would never touch the bush again.
There is also another bush around Clonfinane and it was used for the same purpose. In the bog there is a green plot and in the middle of it stands the bush. One morning as the priest was saying Mass and a great crowd around him and an army of soldiers surrounded them. The people all ran in different directions and soldiers took the priest as a prisoner and they executed him some months afterwards.
