O'Connellan - The Bard

Outside the north-eastern corner of the ruin but without any particular stone or mark by which the exact spot could be identified, lie the remains of the celebrated travelling minstrel Thomas O'Connellan, who was born at Cloonamahon, Co Sligo, and who died at Bourchier's Castel AD1700.
O'Connellan is credited with having composed nearly seven hundred airs but few of them are now in existence.
he is known as the author of the following airs:
"The Jointure"
"Little Celia Connellan"
"Love in Secret"
"Ta da liom Daibihis ann san are seo"
"Planxty Davis", which is similar to an air in Scotland entitled "Battle of Killycrankys"
