Ar an leathanach seo
- People usually got married during Shrove, i.e. from January 7th until Shrove Tuesday. A good number wait until the Shrove Tuesday. The old people say that during the month of May and during the Harvest are unlucky times to get married. "What is bound in the harvest is loosed in the Spring," meaning that one of the parties would die within a short time. There is a rhyme about the days of the week, as follows:
Monday for health,
Tuesday for wealth,
Wednesday the best day of all,
Thursday for losses,
Friday for crosses,
and Saturday no luck at all.
The above rhyme is ignored in this part of the country, for quite a number get married on a Saturday.
The colour of the frock worn by the bride is described as follows:
Married in blue, he's sure to be true;
" " brown, you'll live out of town;
" " grey, you'll live far away;
" " green, ashamed to be seen;
" " pink, your spirits will sink;
" " yellow, ashamed of the fellow;
