- There are cows and horses kept on every farm. Some of the cows have got names. These names are Short horns and Milstreet, and such names. When driving cows I say "How, How". The cow house is a large house. The cows are tied to stakes. Cows are sometimes tied from neck to leg. They are tied with a chain or a rope. A local horse called Jerry M. won the Grand National. When calling hens people say "Tuk, Tuk". When calling turkeys people say "biadh, biadh". People really say "Bí, Bí" which is probably a short form of biadh. It is a custom not to put down eggs of a Monday for hatching. It is lucky to put down an odd number of eggs. Some people put a mark of a cross on the eggs.
