    The local market was held in the village of Pallaskenry in times. It was called New market and it was called that name and it is at the west of the village.
    Flax was the article article sold there and spinning and weaving was carried on.
    There was also a market for milk whole and skimmed at that time bread being all home made.
    Goods were also after mass. The people used buy the weeks supply as the rarely visited the village during the week.
    Words were in use in connection with buying and selling such as "tick" which means goods given until the person has money to pay.
    Little shops were common in every parish tow or three being kept in this parish.
    It was considered lucky to get money on the first Monday of the New Year called hansel monday.
