    stampy bread, being made of potatoes grated, and mixed with flour, and baked on a griddle, and cut into squares.
    Mills were numerous in former times, being built on almost every stream. Some of these were small, having but one quern.
    The people often worked day and night in those mills during the famine period, as people were entirely depending on whatever they could get in the way of corn.
    The people being starving they could not wait any length of time for it.
