    Before doctors were in this country old people found cures themselves.
    If a person had boils he would make a poltice of soap and sugar and apply the poltice to the boil hot.
    Another cure for boils is white bread and water mixed and put to the boil hot.
    If a person got a sting of a nettle or a thistle he would rub a dockleaf to it and it would not blister.
    If any person got a burn or scald he would apply a grain of bread soda to it and it would prevent from blistering.
    Another cure for corns is to apply a roasted leave of cabbage to them and it would draw them out.
