- Besides those crafts carried on at present in the village of Glantane the only other that the oldest inhabitants can remember is weaving. In the kitchen of the house now occupied by Mr. Eugene O'Connell, his father, Loghain, had a loom at which he worked up till about 50 years ago when the demand for homespun cloth in this locality ceased. Though for the last 25 years of his life Mr. O'Connell did not work at his trade he was usually called "Loghain the Weaver" while he lived.
At the southern end of the village in what was once a schoolroom for Protestant children. Mr. J. Coleman, (junior) has a carpentry shop. Near the centre of the village is another carpenter's establishment, the proprietor of which is Mr. Denis Singleton. The village forge is at the western end and is owned by Mr. J. Coleman, (senior). Mr. Daniel O'Connell, shoemaker, is kept very busy repairing boots and shoes, but is not often asked to make them as almost everybody now buys the factory-made(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
