Song (ar lean)
“When you come to Inniscarra and through sweet Cloghroe”
(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)And often at evening when homewards returning,
I'd watch the sun shedding its light o'er the plain.
And oh! what delight in my young heart was burning,
And I wished in Kilmurry I'd always remain.
2
Mid the cluster of trees round the hill of Kilmurry,
Lies the old Abby ruin with its ivy clad walls.
The lime tree, the elm, the poplar, wild cherry,
And the ever-green palm tree that for ages have stood there.
Like a sentinel guarding the home of the dead.
3
Oh! wherever I wander I think of Kilmurry,
Tho' the waves of the ocean between us may swell.
And I'll now bid adue to my old home in Berrings,
And charming Kilmurry forever farewell.- Bailitheoir
