- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Kilthomane Quay. A boat-house was also built. These also tried to prevent the smugglers, as before this, when they used to escape from the Dunbeacon Coastguards they used land in Kilthomane where they had a secret cutting in the ground to hide their cargoes. When the Coastguards left this station the smugglers again began to enter. One night thirty of them landed. They travelled all through Kilthomane, Dunmanus and Knockeens and stole all the cattle they could get and took them on board.
They then got a hauser - a strong steel rope which they put around the Station. They then put up a steam in their ship and they tore the Station to pieces. The remains of it are still to be seen.- Bailitheoir
