  1. There was a card-party held in Dunboy Castle many years ago and the card-party was in progress when a knock came to the door and the maid said that there was a man wanted to speak to Mr. Puxley. Mr. Puxley invited him to come to the card-party and the man sat on Mr. Puxley's right-hand side at the table. They started to play cards and the ace of spades fell under the table and when one of the men bent down to pick the card up he noticed hooves on the legs of the invited guest then they knew that their guest was the devil.
    They sent for the parson who lived at that time in Oak Mount to banish the devil but he was unable to do so. After a lot of persuasion Mr. Puxley consented to send for Father Ormonde the Catholic priest but Fr. Ormonde would not go to Dunboy because Mr. Puxley refused to give a building site to Fr. Ormonde for the erection of a school at Cahergariffe. But after a while he consented to go the to Dunboy. And when he arrived at the room where the devil was he made the Sign of the Cross and sprayed some holy-water all over the room and the devil left the room and he was not seen in Dunboy any more. And they traced the tracks
