    slated building. Mr Donelon took off the roof and raised it to be in line wit his private house.
    The school adjoined the premises of B. T. Wade a Publican. This house (a thatched one) is owned at present by Mrs. Costello. My mother Mrs. Brigid Martin attended this school when taught by Michael Quinn.

  2. To the right of this road, Ballymoe to Cloonruff, and about 300 yds from the Ballymoe end stood a Charted School. One corner of it remains yet, but the roof was on it up to 25 years ago. Mr Baggott the landlord built it and insisted on the children of his tenantry attending it.
    An old cow was killed every week. A man named Mc Neill from Cloonadaragh had the contract for this work. The pupils got soup - oaten bread and a little meat each day. Drill was taught. The principal subject was the Bible (Protestant). The pupils had most of it off by heart.
