   Weather Lore
   There are a number of Local beliefs about the weather. These are some of them. When we see dark clouds moving about the sky we know that we will have rain. Some people understands a lot of signs in the sky. If they see a big ring around the sun or a halo they say it is a sign of rain. Sometimes we see signs in the moon and stars. If the stars look very big and appear very near to us is another sign of broken weather. The greatest sign of rain is the rainbow. This is always exactly opposite the sun. There are seven colours in the rainbow. From the light of the sun the colours that are in the sky form a rainbow. By the wind people can tell when there will be rain. Every farmer likes the South and East wind. When the wind is from the west it carried a lot of moisture with it from the Atlantic Ocean. When this wind rises high the cold air causes it to fall as rain. The birds also give signs of the weather. When crows fly very low it is a sign of rain if there is a lot of "psoileans" together in a field the people know they will have rain. Those birds are nearly always beside the sea, but when rain is coming they fly away from it because on the land it is not so rough.
   Some of the farm animals also show signs of the weather. If the cat has her back to the fire it is a
