    Once upon a time there lived a king in the North of France. He lived in a big palace and it was haunted. So he could not stay in it no longer. There was a man and his wife and children living near the King and they were dying with hunger. So one day the King said to the man I will give you £10 if you stay in my palace for one night and a table full of food. So the man stayed the first night and just as he was ready to sit down to eat a man walked in came up took a chair and sat down at the table and ate up every thing that was on the table and walked out again. So the King came in the morning and shouted from the road "are you there" and the King said "I am come in" So the King came in and the man told him about the strange man that came in and sat at the table and ate every thing that was on it. So the King asked him would he stay the second night and he said he would if he doubled the money and doubled the food and so he did so the King went off again. The night came and just as the man was ready to eat the same man came in and sat at the table and ate up every thing that was on it. So in the morning the King came and and asked him how did he do. And he said just as he was ready to eat the same man came in sat at the table and ate up every
