- It is unlucky to have a “match” upset. If carried out it means misfortune and parties. It is unlucky to make match at third or last quarter of noon. A match made by a priest or a woman is not lucky. It is unlucky to get rain on wedding day. “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” should be worn by the bride at marriage. It is unlucky for a wedding guest to wear anything black. This may only apply to the lady guests, and it scarcely applies to footwear. Shouldn’t wear red, some say. It is not lucky to marry in August, some say not lucky to marry in harvest. “Sheaf tied in Aug. (or harvest) will be loosed before spring.” It is terribly unlucky to get married in May. The bride shouldn’t go home to her parents' house until she is a month married. If a person fall from a seal he won’t be married that year.
