    The Stars. When the sky is full of stars it is a sign of frost, or when the stars are twinkling it is likely to rain.
    The Clouds. When the clouds run very quickly across the sky it is a sign of rain. If there are big black clouds to be seen it is the sign of a thunder-storm. Rain is approaching if white clouds, called wool-packs are seen in the sky.
    A Rainbow. This is always seen in broken-weather. A rainbow in the morning is a shepherd's warning and a rainbow in the evening is a shepherd's delight.
    Mountains. The Camross mountains which are to be seen north of this county are used here for locating the weather. Sometimes those mountains go entirely out of sight and when this occurs it is a sure sign of rain.
    Birds. When there is a flock of wild geese to be seen it is a sign of hard weather. When curlews are heard screeching it is a sure sign of rain. If you see a robin under the ditch in the morning the day will be wet. A storm is near at hand if crows are to be seen far up in the sky. When a robin is seen at the doorstep it is a sign of hard
