  1. (continued from previous page)
    The hills were soon surmounted,
Like lions in a den we stood,
While by then we were all counted,
The ball was thrown up to the sky,
    The Munster men all shouted,
    Three cheers for Barna boys,
    Shinrone was never doubted.
Young Collier then said to his men
Both front and rear take order
This is the day we'll show them play
    Proud Munster we'll alarm
But Phelan then above his men
    Was not the least alarmed
To meet the foe where ever he'd go,
No more than brave young Gorman.
For in Kilmainham many he'd slain
Being in the midst of danger
But there he stood be smeared with blood
    A true brave Upperwood Ranger.
    The Ossorians mounted their play
They played the first half hour.
But soon they were made to understand,
    That Upperwood was the power.
For then the tusseling took place,
They cried "lie on the strangers
But we brought the ball up through the goal.
    We're true brave Upperwood Rangers.
