    In this present year
    Making my way to Carrickmacross,
    My course I chanced to steer,
    The first thing took my notice
    Going round by Laragh Mill,
    Was that the fine old spinner,
    Was lying idle still.

    I'm told she is idle,
    Since September last,
    Her spinnels are out of order,
    Her bands they are all cast,
    She will need some oil,
    Likewise some toil, before she will go,
    She needs some handy handymen,
