  1. A dark or cloudy sun is nearly always a forerunner of rain or broken weather while a moon lying on its back is also supposed to be sign of rain. A rainbow seen in the sky in the morning is also an indication of bad weather. In this district wind blowing from a southerly aspect generally brings rain. Northerly wind is usually accompanied by snow.
    The birds and animals are also weather omens. The dog howls at the appoach of thunder and the cat sits with its back to the fire when rain is expected. The birds fly inland with the coming of Winter while at the approch of summer they can be seen in flocks seawards.
    When the hills appear blue and far away fair weather may be expected while if they appear near broken weather is expected. The smoke coming from a chimney they say if it goes low it is the sign of rain and if it goes straight it
