    I have often heard my grandfather talking of the months of the heavy frost which occured about the year 1860.

    snowstorm, and their bodies were not recovered until the snow had vanished.
    In August of the year 1880 there was a week of very heavy rain, which was accompanied by severe thunder and lightning. All the rivers in the district overflowed their banks and swamped much much of the lands. A man named Langan was killed with lightning when returning from a fair in Ballymote. Many horses and cattle were killed in the townland of "Greenan" when the stable in which they were tied was set on fire by lightning, while a farmhouse belonging to a man named Hannon in Keash was also burned.
