    The government sent a certain amount of food to each town, and it was the parish priest of Boyle, Father McDonagh, that distributed the food to the Boyle people, at the workhouse gates once a week.

  2. In the Autumn of 1846 a blight fell upon the potato crop in Ireland, and, in poor parts of the country the havoc and destruction which it caused is indescribable. The following are a few stories which I heard in my district about the awful state of the people.
