    The roof fell in just after she had deserted it, and the wind was so strong that it was quite evident to her that she also would be swept away, as she was worn with fever and pestilence, and therefore hadn't any energy to resist the sweeping howling blasts. She had almost surrendered to the cold arms of Death, when she thought of tying the blanket to a huge ash tree, and then trying the other end of it around herself, thereby saving her life. It raised havoc on local-woods - trees were rooted from their foundations and huddled together, while others were flattened across the roads, and thereby blocked all the traffic on the roads. Several people were killed instantly by trees and it is reckoned that ten horses and thirty cattle were killed in North Roscommon.
