  1. Flummery or Flemming (used about 50 years ago)
    Flummery was made by crushing oats very finely. About three or four quarts of the crushed oats were put into a pan and the pan was filled with lukewarm water. It was then stirred. The water was removed every day for three or four days and fresh water added.
    A soft white mass was left. Above a fire of this mass was put into a pot.
    Twice the quantity of water was added and it was boiled until it jellied.
    It was served with sugar and milk.
