  2. On the farm of James Maybury - deceased - of the townland of Cahir in this parish, there is an opening to a subterranean passage which is supposed to lead to a liss which I never have been able to locate. The local people say that the floor of this passage is strewn with human bones but of late years no-one has investigated the matter and the mouth of the passage is overgrown with nettles and briars.
    There is a story which says that this James Maybury had a fine white cow called "Bawny". Every
