Bread
Flour was not known long ago as we see or use it now.The wheat was dried to take some of the moisture out of it.Then it was ground or what was then called pounded in a stone trough with a stone hammer used by hand and nothing was extracted except with a riddle,which took some of the bran out of it before using it.It was much like wheat meal,only coarser.I do not know of any one living at the present time who would remember doing it or having seen it done as it is over a hundred years since a form of milling was introduced locally in this country.There are some of the stone troughs to be seen but I do not know where any of the beetles are as they were easily broken,being made also of(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
