  1. In former times when doctors were not so numerous as at present people got cures from many strange things. Some of those cures are still tried in this locality.
    For instance. Putting a frog into your mouth is supposed to be a cure for a toothache.
    For thrush letting a gander, which is fasting, breathe for nine mornings into the affected child's mouth is said to be a cure. Thrush is also cured by the breath of a girl or boy who has not seen her or his father.
    Red clay is a cure for cuts.
    To take twenty-one sups of tea without drawing your breathe cures hiccoughs.
    There are several cures for warts. To steal a bit of meat when eating at the table and bury it in the dung is supposed to heal warts. Also if a person who has warts, goes out for a walk every morning until she sees a stone with a hollow
