In Cordal there is a deep glan called "Gleann Sciobóil". It got its name during Cromwell's time in Ireland. Four or five families of poor catholics lived in little houses near the glen, The Cromwellian soldiers hunted these men through the glen. When the soldiers had them nearly caught, the people prayed to God to help them. At that moment a beautiful shade opened over them which shaded them from the soldiers. The poor people could
