  1. Potatoes grow every year on our farm. Sometimes an acre and other times a half an acre is sown. The farmer prepares the ground every year. The ground is manured before been turned up. Four sods are turned and when a large amount is done, the farmer comes and puts clay between the sods.
    Where he gets the clay is called the drill. The potatoes are sown in the ridge. Ploughs are used now, but long ago wooden spades were used. There are none left now.
