- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)swan is another. Some people believe
if they see one swan flying over the house at night fall, a death is about to take place in the locality. If two swans arrive on a lake near a house some one in that house is about to go on a long journey. We are told the robin got its red breast from the blood which our Lord lost in a wheat field. The goldfinch is a bird with many coloured feathers. Many people catch her and put her in a cage because of her beautiful voice. She does not like to be kept in a
cage and many a time she seeks her freedom. The thrush and blackbird have beautiful voices also. They are up early in the morning singing their songs. The lapwing usually builds her nest on a bank or on a high place. The sparrow builds her nest in the eaves of houses. The jackdaw builds her nest in the chimneys of houses with sticks and moss.
