- My Grandfather told me the following story which happened to this father and mother. One night they went to bed as usual and there was no sign of storm. They had no clock as they were not very plentiful then so they did not know what time it was. The house was in darkness and they were beginning to think it was the longest night they ever found.
After some time the cattle began to roar in the houses. The people in bed began to get hungry, but still there was no sign of day-break. Owning to the presistent lowing of the cattle, they decided to get up and see what was the matter.
On opening the door to their suprise a wall of snow fell on the top of them. The house had been snowed up to the roof, and they had lain in bed for night and a day waiting as they thought for day-light.
