  1. Hidden Treasure (continued)

Once upon a time there lived a man up on the Ox Mountain.

    (continued from previous page)
box to the man who wished him luck and warning him at the same time never to strike him with the bridle. He brought him home, well pleased of his bargain and he called him "buachaill Dubh" He was very swift on foot and there wasn't a race all over the country but he won with him after that so he was no longer a poor man. One day however he forgot the man's warning and struck the horse with the bridle, as he was letting him loose. The horse turned at once and grabbed him by the waist in his mouth and away he galloped across the hill towards Tireragh. There were other men on the mountain who saw what was happening, and they kept the horse in sight until he came to a lake at the foot of a hill called "The Knock", near the lady's Road and into the lake he plunged. When the men got that far all they saw was a human heart floating on the top of the water. The lake is called ever since "Loch-a-Chree".
