- The two important places in this district where fairs are held are Ballinamore and Mohill. These places are convenient for jobbers because they are beside the railway station. Long ago there were fairs held in Fenagh and any jobber that came a long distance had to walk. Now there are none held there because the people consider it is not convenient. In this district they say it is not lucky to buy anything which another has almost bought. Long ago they used to strike others hands when they used to be making a bargain. They say you should give coppers when you are giving luck. The twenty fifth of February is a great fair. It is held in Mohill. Long ago the people used to tie a red ribbon on the cattles" tail afraid they would be over looked. They used to say that some people had an evil look in their eye. I heard of a boy who had an evil look in his eye and anything that he(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
