- In this district they say it is not lucky to put out ashes on New Year's day. The Sunday before shrove Tuesday is called puss Sundy and shrove Tuesday is called pancake Tuesday. It is a custom in this district to set a little lock of potatoes on Good Friday. On Easter Sunday morning the people eat as many eggs as they are fit. Patrick McCartan ate nine eggs on Easter Sunday morning. On the first day of May the people lend nothing to each other because they say it is not lucky. On the twenty fourth of June St. John's day there are big bon fires at nearly every crossroad. Long ago a member of each family brought a load of turf and they danced at the bon fire the whole night. On Hallow Eve night there are many different kinds of games played. They get a ring a lock of ashes and a drop of water and if you touch the ring you will be married before a year if you touch the ashes you will die before a year and if you touch the(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
