- Carnacregg house was built in or about the sixteenth century by a family of the Concannons of Tuam and Waterloo. During the famine (1845 - 1847) it was supposed to be a hospital and after that James Browne bought it. The tenants were then supplied with work and earned a good salary by repairing the estate for Browne.
The property amounted to about six hundred acres. He also owned several others as Corofinn, Cooloo and Greenville. Ruins of another gentlemans residence are still to be seen in the neighbourhood. His name was O'Loughlin.
