- When a horse is about to carry a corpse.
The custom in this parish is to take out the horse three times and value her or she will die. Pipes and snuff are still used here at wakes and funerals. A game called slapping is also practised.
The corpse is left on two chairs to rest before being taken into the hearse. The corpse is brought out "feet first". When they arrive at the grave yard they lay the corpse to rest on the south side of the grave. Therefore the third rest is down into the grave. When the grave is closed they cross a shovel and spade on it. All kneel down to say an "Our Father".- Bailitheoir
