- The name of this townland is Lisnanerris. The meaning of the name is the door of the forth. The townland is one mile in length and about a quarter of a mile in breadth. In this townland there are twenty-three families and also twenty-three farms of land. The most common name in it is Darcy. There are four families of that name. Long ago there was a lot more families in this townland than there are now. Most of the houses have thatched roofs. There are only one or two with slated roofs. Some of the houses are built a very long time.There are eight old ruins of houses in this townland. Some of the people that lived in them went away to England, Scotland and America, the rest of them died. There is very good arable land(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
