- In this district the farmers have a different way for planting potatoes from the farmers of other districts. They first turn the sods with the loy and then they cut the seed leaving an eye in each piece. The seed are put in bags and brought to the field. Then they are put in under the sods and covered with clay. Some farmers plough the land with a plough. They leave about a foot and a half between each ridge. The ridges are about three feet wide.
When the stalks come up through the clay the ridges are covered with clay. This is called "second covering"(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
