On Ash wednesday the people go to mass and they get blessed ashes. on November's night they children go diving for apples. They get a big bath and they fill it up with water then they put a shilling of a six-pense in the bath and it would go down to the bottom. They a crowd of boys would father round the bath and they would stick their heads in together in the bath looking for the money. Their heads wold be all wet but they dry them. They hang an apple from the ceiling with a bit of twine. They hump up to it and catch it with their mouths and the first person they would take the bite would get it. They get three saucers and they fill them with water, ring, and clay. If you get the water you will cross the sea, if you get the ring you will be married and the clay you will be buried the first. There will be a cloth put around your eyes before you try to find what you are going to get.
