- About 150 years ago there lived in Byhalla a man called Diarmuid Mór O' Díomasaigh. He belonged to some kind of organisation called the "thrashers".
But in reality they were a band of robbers. Their chief was called Captain Gallagher. Captain Gallagher and Diarmuid Mór went up to Swinford to rob a man whom they knew to have some money.
This man and his wife would not tell where the money was hidden. The robbers put Irons in the fire and burned them to force them to tell where the money was. They took away all the money the man had and when they came home Diarmuid put his share in a tin box and hid it in a bog.
He stuck a long piece of iron down beside the box for a mark. But he never found it. It was found by a man cutting turf one hundred years after. The government was on his track and he would be hanged if he was caught.
He carried seven hundred weight of potatoes in a home- made sack from Glan to Byhalla(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
