    Long ago the people had many old marriage customs, and some of the people in other parts of Ireland still have them.
    There is an old saying
    "Monday for wealth,
    Tuesday for health,
    Wednesday the best day of all.
    Thursday for losses.
    Friday for crosses.
    And Saturday no day at all."
    Friday is supposed to be an unlucky day to be married and May is an unlucky month. Some people would not wear red, blue, brown or green, because they used to say they would not have luck.
    There is a saying about what to wear when getting married and it is for good luck. Something old and something new, something borrowed, and something blue.
