- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Some starlings and wood pigeons nest here but each winter large flocks of both species far outnumbering the ones that breed here come in from northern Europe. Another bird which is chiefly seen here in the Autumn is the gold-crested wren. This small bird nests in the pine forests of North Europe and migrates southward in late autumn. Jackdaws and magpies are common, mistle thrushes, jays, yellow-wagtails are seen in varying numbers. Birds of prey are not numerous here, the sparrow-hawk, kestrel are merlins being almost the only representatives. Owls are found in a few places around here but are very few in numbers are not often seen. Each kind of bird has a liking for building its nest in certain places but of course a number of species frequent the same places. Thrushes, blackbirds, hedgesparrows, and chaffinches all build their nests in hedge-rows or bushes. Rooks, woodpigeon jays, magpies, sparrow-hawk and kestrel(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
