  1. The name of this townland is Cooley. It is in the parish of Moville. There are a hundred people in it approximately. The family name most common is "Mc Gonigle". The majority of the house are thatched and white-washed and they are one storey high. There are a few old people over seventy living in Cooley. They do not know Irish. They cannot tell stories in Irish, they can tell them in English. The houses in Cooley were more numerous long ago and they were now in ruins. In some parts the land is hilly. There is no wood growing in Cooley.
    Maria Mc Elhinney, Cooley, Moville.
