- On St. Bridig's Eve the people of Ireland make rush crosses and make poundies for the supper.
After the supper the eldest member of the family goes out for rushes. When he comes back he knocks at the door and says three times "fosgail an doras agus leig isteach Brighid". Some one inside answer "se do bheatha a Bhrighid"
Then the rushes are made into crosses and the Rosary is said and then Holy Water is thrown on them. They are put above each on Candlemasday after Mass.
